Hotel und Restaurant Edelweiss in Blatten
The legendary hotel – for those seeking tranquility and for active guests
Hotel and Restaurant Edelweiss is an ideal starting point for a vacation as well as a short get-away in the Lötschental. Located on the outskirts of Blatten, the furthest village of the Lötschental, it is perfect for guests seeking tranquility as well as active vacationers. Completely renovated in 2016, the hotel offers the best 3-star comfort. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming; the interior design reflects the traditional alpine-chic. All 23 rooms have been furnished with warm materials and great attention to detail. Most rooms feature a balcony offering beautiful views of the Lötschental mountains. The wellness area with sauna/sanarium, foot baths, relaxation room and loungers in the outdoor area invites to relax after an active day of hiking or skiing. The cozy village restaurant with its family atmosphere is a popular meeting place in the Lötschental. In the dining room and on the large panoramic terrace with views to the “Lötschenlücke”, guests enjoy alpine cuisine made of regional, seasonal products.
Due to its long isolation, the Lötschental managed to preserve its beautiful nature as well as local customs and traditions. Hotel Edelweiss is one of the places to experience and fully enjoy those traditions. During the village tour, guided by the host of Hotel Edelweiss, one will gain an even deeper insight of the wildly romantic, mystic valley.
The Lötschental with its idyllic villages and warm-hearted people is worth a stay at any time, both in summer and in winter.

It’s safe to say we’ve gone the extra mile with the features in both of the rooms: They are equipped with both bath and shower facilities, whilst the balconies offer a beautiful view of the village and get the sun in the evening until sunset.
All of these balconies come with a table, chairs and a parasol as well as a lounger during the summer months.
The rooms feature a shower, toilet, two beds, a TV, radio, safe and free Wi-Fi.
Four of the rooms can also accommodate three or four people. We also have two sets of two adjoining rooms and one accessible room.
There’s plenty of space for two people to stay in these rooms, which come with a shower, a toilet, a TV, a radio, a safe and free Wi-Fi. What more could you want? There are two chairs, a table and a parasol out on the balcony. The single comfort rooms are perfect if you are planning to stay with us for a while.
There is no balcony. These rooms are a popular choice for single occupancy. The economy rooms can also be booked in combination with a double comfort room with an adjoining door to make things nice and convenient.
Although there is less space, the effective features ensure that you feel right at home. You should be aware that you won’t have access to a balcony and you’ll only have a restricted view of the beautiful mountains through the windows.
Having said that, these rooms prove particularly popular with guests on a tighter budget and they are ideal if you’re travelling with teenagers, if you fancy an extra room as a couple or if you’re a tour or mountain guide.
The rates here vary as the three rooms are all a bit different.
Our village restaurant, the cozy dining room and the fabulous panoramic terrace offer a range of gastronomic experiences. From classic Swiss dishes like crispy “Röstis”, imaginative Risotti and bestsellers like the Cordon-bleu or Fondue to the “Walliserteller”, lovers of hearty cuisine will be invited to enjoy to the maximum. Special attention is also given to the preparation of a wide range of traditional meat dishes such as the ragout of Lötschentaler beef or “Gitzi”, the lamb gigot from Blatten, homemade hamburgers and house sausages. Specialty evenings enrich your selection. Also served are vegan and vegetarian dishes as well as kinds’ menus.
Our half board is based on a four-course menu at CHF 40.
Our cuisine proudly fuses rustic-traditional dishes with innovative elements.
The sunny panorama terrace welcomes up to 80 guests and is appreciated by hotel guests and visitors from the outside alike. From June through September, breakfast and dinner is also served on the terrace if weather permits.
In this room breakfast and dinner is served. It is also available for private gatherings and can be divided into two smaller rooms.
The cozy, lively village restaurant is where hotel guests, locals and day-trippers meet.
Lötschental valley
Located between the Pennine and Bernese Alps, the Lötschental valley was isolated for centuries – especially during the winter months. This is how languages, customs and traditions have been maintained here that were lost elsewhere in the Alpine range. Since the construction of the Lötschberg railway and the Goppenstein train station, the Lötschental valley has come to be a central place to live and a top holiday destination. You can get to Blatten from Visp in 30 minutes, from Sion in 50 minutes and from Bern in 90 minutes. There are fantastic train connections between 6 a.m. and 1 a.m. the following morning. That’s another compelling reason to retreat to this nearby valley to work together as a team and expose yourself to a varied cultural landscape while you’re here.

Holiday-style accommodation
Our 23 hotel rooms were all fully refurbished in 2016. They come with comfortable furnishings and practical features, finished off with a touch of Alpine charm. Enjoy some ‘me’ time, admire the wonderful view from the balcony in your room and get some work done in a beautiful holiday destination. If you do end up with some extra time for relaxation, we recommend heading to our wellness area, which is designed in the style of an old Tellin lodge.
